    Çevrim-İçi Matematik Öğretimi Alan Deneyiminde Teori ve Pratik Arasındaki Mesafe Üzerine Bir İnceleme

    Geçmiş çalışmalar, öğretmen adaylarının teori ve pratiği birleştirme becerisinin, derste öğrendiklerinipratiğe dökebilmek için artan öneminden bahsetmektedir. Bu çalışma, 23 matematik öğretmenliğiadayının bir matematik öğretmen eğitimi programındaki ders ve çevrim-içi matematik öğretimi alandeneyimlerini birleştirme becerisini incelemiştir. Bu çalışmanın verisini, öğretmen adaylarının birdönem boyu süren çevrim-içi ders verme deneyiminden önce gerçekleşen 24 video-kayıtlı ders planlamatoplantısının transkripleri ve Çevrim-içi Laboratuar Okulu’ndaki çevrim-içi ders anlatımlarından sonragerçekleşen 9 video-kayıtlı tüm sınıfın dahil olduğu tartışma toplantılarının transkripleri kapsamaktadır.Ayrıca, bu çalışmanın verisini öğretmen adaylarının çevrim-içi ders anlatımlarından sonra dersanlatımlarındaki ilginç ve önemli buldukları durumlar üzerine yazdıkları kısa notları da içermektedir.Sonuçlar, öğretmen adaylarının sıklıkla teori ve pratik arasındaki bağlantıları kurmakta zorlandıklarınıgöstermekte ve öğretmen eğitimcilerinin matematik öğretimi alan deneyimleri ödevlerinde daha fazladers entegrasyon fırsatlarını kullanmasını önermektedir. Ders öğretim üyelerinin amaçları, öğretmenadaylarının düşünümleri, ders planları ve tüm sınıfın dahil olduğu tartışma toplantıları gibi birden fazlaveri kaynaklarını kullanan bu çalışma, eğitim araştırması alanındaki var olan mesafenin kapanması içindeğerli bir nitel kanıt sunmaktadır

    Mention Detection in Turkish Coreference Resolution

    A crucial step in understanding natural language is detecting mentions that refer to real-world entities in a text and correctly identifying their boundaries. Mention detection is commonly considered a preprocessing step in coreference resolution which is shown to be helpful in several language processing applications such as machine translation and text summarization. Despite recent efforts on Turkish coreference resolution, no standalone neural solution to mention detection has been proposed yet. In this article, we present two models designed for detecting Turkish mentions by using feed-forward neural networks. Both models extract all spans up to a fixed length from input text as candidates and classify them as mentions or not mentions. The models differ in terms of how candidate text spans are represented. The first model represents a span by focusing on its first and last words, whereas the representation also covers the preceding and proceeding words of a span in the second model. Mention span representations are formed by using contextual embeddings, part-of-speech embeddings, and named-entity embeddings of words in interest where contextual embeddings are obtained from pretrained Turkish language models. In our evaluation studies, we not only assess the impact of mention representation strategies on system performance but also demonstrate the usability of different pretrained language models in resolution task. We argue that our work provides useful insights to the existing literature and the first step in understanding the effectiveness of neural architectures in Turkish mention detection.

    Understanding the Psychological and Financial Correlates for Consumer Credit Use;

    This study investigated the behavioural and cognitive predictors of consumer credit usage to develop a behavioural credit risk assessment procedure for a factoring company. Participants completed surveys measuring personality traits, self-esteem, material and monetary values, compulsive and impulsive buying tendencies, self-control, and impulsiveness. Financial surveys also assessed financial literacy and knowledge of financial concepts. The results indicated that extraversion, conscientiousness, emotional stability, and experiential self-control were significant predictors of consumer credit usage. These findings suggest that a finance company can use these personality traits and financial characteristics to develop a more accurate and effective credit risk assessment procedure, such as psychometric tests. © 2024, Sosyoekonomi Society.     Uluslararası Hukukta Andlaşma Akdetme Yetkisi ve Viyana Andlaşmalar Hukuku Sözleşmesi Madde 46 Kapsamında Andlaşmaların Geçersizliği

    Devletlerin bir andlaşma ile bağlanma süreçlerinde iç hukuklarında uygulanacak usule ilişkin düzenlemeleri, uluslararası hukuk ile iç hukukun kesiştiği sınırlı alanlardan biri olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bununla birlikte devletlerin bu alandaki düzenlemelerinin çeşitli usulleri içerdiği gözlenmektedir. Geleneksel olarak yürütmenin elinde olan andlaşma akdetme yetkisinin demokratikleşme süreçleriyle birlikte yasama ile paylaşılan bir uygulama halini aldığı görülmektedir. Kimi devletlerde bu süreçlere anayasa mahkemeleri veya benzer yetkiyle donatılmış yargı organlarının da dahil olması mümkün olabilir. Hatta halk oylamasından geçmesi öngörülen andlaşma akdetme usulleri de mevcuttur. İç hukukta öngörülen bu kuralların ihlal edilmesi yoluyla bir uluslararası andlaşmaya taraf olan devlet, andlaşmanın geçersizliğini 1969 Viyana Andlaşmalar Hukuku Sözleşmesi’nin (VAHS) 46. maddesine dayanarak ileri sürebilir. Uluslararasıcılık ile anayasalcılığı bağdaştırıcı bir çözüm sunar gibi gözüken bu hüküm, gerçekte son derece zor ve istisnaî bir uygulamaya sahiptir. Gerek devletlerin andlaşma akdetme konusundaki kurallarının karmaşık olması gerekse genel bir sınıflandırmayı zorlaştıracak kadar çeşitli olması, konuyu daha da çetrefilli hale getirmektedir. Bu çalışma, ilgili hükmün hazırlık çalışmaları, kapsamı ve sınırlarını ayrıntılı bir biçimde incelemektedir. Çalışmada ayrıca, VAHS’nin hazırlık çalışmalarında da en tartışmalı konulardan biri olan bu geçersizlik gerekçesinin neden son derece istisnaî ve ileri sürüldüğünde başarı şansının zayıf olduğu değerlendirilmiştir. Bunların yanında, bu hükmün şu anda akademik çevrelerde tartışılmakta olan andlaşmalardan çekilmeye ilişkin kurallara benzer şekilde uygulanabilirliği de ele alınmıştır.

    Turkey's Green Imagination: the Spatiality of the Low-Carbon Energy Transition Within the Eu Green Deal

    This article asks the extent to which the EU Green Deal influences the EU periphery today and builds on the spatial conditions of multiple, co-existing decarbonization pathways within the EU Green Deal while problematizing the 'green imagination' of Turkey as an immediate neighbour and a candidate country for membership in the EU. As such, it uncovers that the current low-carbon transition process in Turkey is prone to be shaped by the highly politicized energy market in an authoritarian neoliberal structure on the one hand, and Turkey's priorities in energy issues and hard security on the other. The findings further reveal that Turkey's efforts to use more domestic energy resources to meet its consumption needs might also interfere with its efforts and obligations to decarbonize its energy sector. The scrutiny into the low-carbon energy transition in Turkey accordingl contributes further insight into the consequences of the spatiality of such transitions in an authoritarian neoliberal context, and what other alternative policies can be imagined and put in practice. Thus, more empirical research is warranted to reveal the spatiality of the low-carbon energy transition across various geographical settings. At the same time, the article argues that both the EU and its partners such as Turkey should be weary of creating green utopias when redesigning their green-energy space since utopias tout court may not always stimulate large-scale change in a revolutionary way in terms of sustainability, feasibility, good practice, and inclusiveness in decision-making processes.

    Günümüz şartlarında, hangi sektörde faaliyet gösterdikleri fark etmeksizin tüm sektörlerrekabet avantajı kazanmak için kurumsal sosyal sorumluluğu etkin olarakkullanmaktadır. Kurumsal sosyal sorumluluk araştırmaları çoğunlukla tüketicilerinalgısında yoğunlaşmıştır, konuya çalışanların bakış açısına ihtiyaç bulunmaktadır. Buçalışma çalışanların kurumsal sosyal sorumluluk algısının, müşteri odaklılık vealgılanan performans ile ilişkisini incelemektedir. 218 çalışandan elde edilen verilerKısmi En Küçük Kareler (PLS) Yapısal Eşitlik Modellemesi tekniği ile analiz edilmiştir.Sonuçlar çalışanların KSS algısının tüm boyutlarının müşteri odaklılık ve algılananperformans ile pozitif ilişkili olduğunu göstermektedir. Algılanan performansı açıklayanen güçlü değişken algılanan çevresel KSS aktiviteleriyken, müşteri odaklılığı açıklayanen güçlü değişken algılanan etik KSS aktiviteleridir. Ayrıca, müşteri odaklılık, algılananperformans ile pozitif ilişkilidir. Sonuçlar çalışan-temelli KSS ve onun olası pozitifsonuçları için yararlı içgörüler sunmaktadır. Ayrıca çalışma sonuçları ile çalışan temelliKSS'deki araştırma boşluğunu doldurmayı ve bunun pazarlama ile ilgili çıktılarüzerindeki etkisini incelemeyi hedeflemektedir.

    Heidegger's Conception of Poetic Dwelling Through Appropriation of History

    This paper explores the significance of poetic dwelling in Martin Heidegger's later thought in terms of its relevance to the essence of truth and his notion of the fourfold as world's disclosure. Heidegger emphasizes that the poetic provides us with a better understanding of our modern era, which is notable by the oblivion of Being. He regards history as a homecoming, which manifests itself when we remember that we are in a dialogue with the destining of Being. After clarifying the relationship between poetic dwelling and appropriation of history whilst referring to Friedrich Holderlin's hymn, "The Ister" ("Der Ister"), this paper argues that according to Heidegger, the precondition of participating in history is learning to listen and respond to the address of Being; which is only possible via the poetic which enables us to feel home and genuinely dwell on this earth.

    Determining and Evaluating New Store Locations Using Remote Sensing and Machine Learning

    Decision making for store locations is crucial for retail companies as the profit depends on the location. The key point for correct store location is profit approximation, which is highly dependent on population of the corresponding region, and hence, the volume of the residential area. Thus, estimating building volumes provides insight about the revenue if a new store is about to be opened there. Remote sensing through stereo/tri-stereo satellite images provides wide area coverage as well as adequate resolution for three dimensional reconstruction for volume estimation. We reconstruct 3D map of corresponding region with the help of semiglobal matching and mask R-CNN algorithms for this purpose. Using the existing store data, we construct models for estimating the revenue based on surrounding building volumes. In order to choose the right location, the suitable utility model, which calculates store revenues, shouldbe rigorously determined. Moreover, model parameters should be assessed as correctly as possible. Instead of using randomly generated parameters, we employ remote sensing, computer vision, and machine learning techniques, which provide a novel way for evaluating new store locations.

    Bu çalışma Jasper Johns’un kabaca 1955-1965 yılları arasındaki çalışmalarındaki görsellik ve sözel dil arasındaki ilişkiyi inceler. Sanatçının Numbers in Colors / Renkli Numaralar (1958-59), Gray Alphabets / Gri Alfabeler (1956), False Start / Hatalı Çıkış (1959), Jubilee / Jübile (1959), By the Sea / Deniz Kenarı (1961), Fool’s House / Ahmağın Evi (1962), Map / Harita (1961), The Critic Sees / Eleştirmen Görüyor (1961), Voice / Ses (1964-67), Voice 2 / Ses 2 (1982), Light Bulb / Ampul (1958) ve Watchman / Gözcü (1964) gibi işleri görsel ve sözel dillerin birbirleriyle ne kadar yakın ilişki içerinde olduğunu açığa çıkararak bize resimsel ifadenin sınırlarına ilişkin meseleleri araştırma alanı sağlar. Ancak bu alanlar arasındaki ilişki içerisinde yoğun olarak kesinti, karmaşa ve gerilim de barındırır. Herhangi bir görsel sanat eserini doğru bir şekilde değerlendirebilmek için eninde sonunda bakma alışkanlıklarımızı askıya alıp bakma eyleminin kendisine has karmaşıklığını fark etmek durumunda kalırız. Johns’un eserleri de bakma deneyiminin çeşitliliğine (görmek, seyretmek, selamlamak, okumak, saymak, incelemek, ezberlemek, casusluk yapmak, röntgenlemek, gözünü dikmek vs.) dikkat çekerek bize görme alışkanlıklarımızı sorgulatır. Bu çalışma, Johns’un eserlerini bu denli kışkırtıcı kılan özelliğin görsel alemin kendi içinde saf bir alan olmaktan ziyade sürekli olarak sözel dil ve diğer duyuların etkisine maruziyetinin vurgulanması olduğunu iddia eder.

    Stancetaking in Spoken Elf Discourse in Academic Settings: Interpersonal Functions of I Don’t Know as a Face-Maintaining Strategy

    Our study examines interpersonal functions enacted through a stance marker in spoken ELF academic discourse. We specifically focus on investigating the functions of I don’t know in an academic speech event by embracing an interpersonal pragmatics and sociolinguistics perspective to figure out how it contributes to the act of stancetaking as an intersubjective activity. We have examined 14 interactions of doctoral defense discussions from the ELFA corpus. Our detailed discourse analysis of these doctoral defense discussions has revealed five distinctive interpersonal functions of the stance marker I don’t know allowing speakers to construct their stance and adopt a face-maintaining strategy in the ongoing spoken discourse: prefacing a suggestion, seeking acceptance, hedging/mitigating, checking agreement, and expressing uncertainty. Considering the highly-context dependent and context-regenerated functions of I don’t know, our study attempts to delve into the relational and interpersonal aspect of communication, and thus contributes to research in this strand by disclosing the interpersonal functions of stancetaking as an intersubjective activity with a particular focus on ELF academic discourse.
