This article focuses on food banking as an example of targeted social provisioning and provides contrasting observations from food bank programs in Brazil and Turkey. Unfortunately water has become a source of conflicts around the world, especially in the Middle East. There is a critical need for active water cooper- ation between nations in the region. This article discusses possible ways to achieve such cooperation, using tools developed under the Blue Peace concept. The article highlights a positive example of con- crete steps taken by Turkey and Iraq in the area of track-two hydro diplomacy, which could potentially expand to other countries in the region. Yet, the alarmists accusing Turkey of abandoning the West are em- bracing a one-sided and distorted narrative that further antagonizes Ankara and deepens the rift with its Western allies.The path to a robust alliance that can address the myriad challenges in the Middle East and beyond is a constructive dialogue between Turkey and its allies aimed at identifying the fulcrum that balances Turkey’s legitimate security interests with the broader objectives of its allies.
