Thus, it is aimed to facilitate the lives of people with certain diseases and disabilities. The ultimate goal of this project has been to direct and control a BCI-based PiCar concerning the signals captured via the EEG/ERP device. With the EEG headset, the EMG signals of the gestures (facial expressions) of the participant were captured. With the collected data, filtering and other preprocessing methods were applied to have noise-free signals. In the preprocessing, the detrending method was used to clean the data set which showed a constantly increasing trend, to a certain range, and zero trends. The denoising (Wavelet Denoising) and outlier detection/elimination methods (OneClassSVM) were used for noise elimination. The SMOTE oversampling method was used for data augmentation. Welch's method was used to get band powers from the signals. With the use of augmented data, several machine learning algorithms were applied such as Support Vector Machine, Logistic Regression, Linear Discriminant Analysis, Random forest Classifier, Gradient Boosting Classifier, Multinomial Naive Bayes, Decision tree, K-Nearest Neighbor, and voting classifier. The developed models were used to predict the direction that is passed as an input to PiCar's API. After that, PiCar was controlled concerning the predicted direction with HTTP GET requests. In this project, the OpenBCI headset and the Brainflow library for EEG/EMG signal obtaining and processing were used. Also, the Tkinter library was used for the Graphical user interface and Django for establishing a server on PiCar's brain which is RaspberryPi. © 2022 IEEE.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 1Security Analysis of Revocable and Bipartite Biotokens(2015) Sarıer, Neyire DenizIn this paper, we analyze the security of bipartite biotokens that release a secret key hidden in the biotoken by using biometrics. We show that the biotoken encoding of 80/112/128-bit symmetric encryption keys are vulnerable to brute force attacks, whose complexity is lower than cryptographic security. Also, we present the weaknesses in the design of revocable biotokens that form the basis for bipartite biotokens. Finally, we propose countermeasures to prevent these attacks and discuss the employment of other efficient cryptographic techniques that possess provable security guarantees.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 1Hata Düzeltme Çıktı Kodları: Genel Bakış, Zorluklar ve Gelecek Yönelimler(IEEE, 2019) Arslan, Şuayb Şefik; Güney, Osman B.Çok sınıflı sınıflandırma problemini çözmenin en etkili yollarından biri, bir grup akıllıca tasarlanmıs ikili sınıflandırıcı kullanarak, sınıflandırıcı sonuçlarını belli bir kritere göre bir araya getirmektir. Furthermore, R-LZMF's corner detection capability with Zernike moments of order 4 is theoretically explained in detail. Experimental results on the Inria Dataset show that R-LZMF outperforms SIFT, CenSurE, ORB, BRISK and competes with SURF in terms of repeatability for images under affine transformation and photometric deformation such as lighting and blurring.Conference Object Reliability Study of Psychometric Tests in a Credit Scoring Model(Ieee, 2024) Nicat, Sahin; Filiz, Gozde; Ozvural, Ozden Gebizlioglu; Çakar, TunaThis study investigates the effectiveness and reliability of using psychometric tests in the credit decision-making processes within the finance sector. Psychometric tests, by measuring individuals' cognitive and psychological traits, hold the potential to broaden access to credit and identify high credit risk. However, after the literature review, it was seen that there was a need for more studies on the reliability and validity of these tests in finance. This study is designed to measure the test-retest reliability of a machine learning model and its inputs that utilize psychometric test results. Within the scope of the research, 115 participants were re-subjected to the same psychometric tests after an average of 6 months. Findings showed that psychometric tests and the machine learning model were generally consistent over time. This work has the potential to fill the gaps in the literature regarding the use of psychometric tests in the finance sector and lays a foundation for future research.Conference Object Citation - Scopus: 3Segmentation for Factoring Customers: Using Unsupervised Machine Learning Algorithms(IEEE, 2023) Yalçuva, Berat; Akçay, Ahmet; Ertuğrul, Seyit; Çakar, Tuna; Sayar, Alperen; Ayyıldız, Nur SeherNowadays the fact that technology facilitates data collection is an important opportunity, as well as making the management of all this data difficult and makes no sense unless it is well processed. This stored data is extremely important, and companies use data provided by their customers. Catching the needs of the customer profiles of the changing world is now a necessity and takes the first place for companies. With the increase in the amount of stored data over time, it has become difficult to establish a relationship between the data and to separate them from each other. At this point, machine learning methods have become more involved in our lives. In this study, what segmentation is and its change over the years are mentioned. It has been mentioned which machine learning techniques will be useful in data selection. Then, possible machine learning methods are shown in real life segmentation problem by using the domestic factoring company’s customer check data. Since this study aims to group unlabeled data, unsupervised learning techniques are emphasized. Among these methods, Hierarchical Clustering, DBSCAN, Gaussian Mixture Modeling methods, Fuzzy c- Means were used as well as the most popular K-Means algorithm. When the clustering results were examined, the optimal number of clusters was calculated very high with GMM, DBSCAN could not assign clusters, and Hierarchical clustering could not produce expected results. It was observed that the best results were obtained with the K-Means and Fuzzy c - Means algorithms.Book Part Citation - Scopus: 1Consumer Neuroscience Perspective for Brands: How Do Brands Influence Our Brains?(IGI Global, 2020) Çakar, Tuna; Girişken, YenerNeuroscientific tools have increasingly been used by marketing practitioners and researchers to understand and explain several different questions that have been issued for a specific company or a general understanding. Recently, lowdensity parity-check (LDPC) codes have been proposed as a promising candidate that can secure high data rates as well as low repair bandwidth while maintaining low complexity in data reconstruction. The main objective of this study is to optimize the repair bandwidth characteristics of LDPC code families for a DSS application while meeting the data reliability requirements. First, a data access scenario in which nodes contact other available nodes randomly to download data is examined. Later, a minimum-bandwidth protocol is considered in which nodes make their selections based on the degree numbers of check nodes. Through formulating optimization problems for both protocols, a fundamental trade-off between the decoding threshold and the repair bandwidth is established for a given code rate. Finally, conclusions are confirmed by numerical results showing that irregular constructions have a large potential for establishing optimized LDPC code families for DSS applications.Conference Object Citation - Scopus: 9Steel Surface Defect Classification Via Deep Learning(IEEE, 2022) Yildiz, Ahmet; Çakar, Tuna; Tunal, Mustafa MertDeep learning and image processing methods have taken place in many parts of our lives, as well as in the quality control stages of production lines. To carefully analyze the intrinsic characteristics of the hard disk behavior, we have exploited a large bolume of data and the benefits of Hadoop ecosystem as our big data processing engine. In other words, we have utilized a special distributed scheme on cloud for cloud HDD data, which is termed as Cloud2HDD. To classify the remaining lifetime of hard disk drives based on health indicators such as in-built S.M.A.R.T (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) features, we used some of the state-of-the-art classification algorithms and compared their accuracy, precision, and recall rates simultaneously. In addition, importance of various S.M.A.R.T. features in predicting the true remaining lifetime of HDDs are identified. For instance, our analysis results indicate that Random Forest Classifier (RFC) can yield up to 94% accuracy with the highest precision and recall at a reasonable time by classifying the remaining lifetime of drives into one of three different classes, namely critical, high and low ideal states in comparison to other classification approaches based on a specific subset of S.M.A.R.T. features.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 15Citation - Scopus: 40An Overview of Blockchain Technologies: Principles, Opportunities and Challenges(IEEE, 2018) Arslan, Şuayb Şefik; Mermer, Gültekin Berahan; Zeydan, EnginBlokzincir, toplumumuzun birbiriyle iletişim kurma ve ticaret yapma biçiminde devrim yapma potansiyeline sahip, yakın zamanda ortaya çıkmış olan bir teknolojidir. The current online approach in several different applications still holds a manual ranking algorithm whose parameters are determined by the data specialists with adequate domain-knowledge. The obtained findings from the present study indicate that the optimized Bayesian Personalized Ranking models will be used for providing a suitable, data-driven input for the ranking system that would serve to be personalized. The outcomes of the present study also demonstrate that the model using LearnBPR optimized with a stochastic gradient descent algorithm outperform the other similar methods. The sample model outputs were also investigated by a user sample to ensure that the algorithm was working correctly. The next potential step is to provide a normalization process to include the extracted information to the current ranking system and observe the performance of this new algorithm with the A/B tests conducted.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 1Adaptive Boosting of Dnn Ensembles for Brain-Computer Interface Spellers(IEEE, 2021) Çatak, Yiğit; Aksoy, Can; Özkan, Hüseyin; Güney, Osman Berke; Koç, Emirhan; Arslan, Şuayb ŞefikSteady-state visual evoked potentials (SSVEP) are commonly used in brain computer interface (BCI) applications such as spelling systems, due to their advantages over other paradigms. In this study, we develop a method for SSVEP-based BCI speller systems, using a known deep neural network (DNN), which includes transfer and ensemble learning techniques. We test performance of our method on publicly available benchmark and BETA datasets with leave-one-subject-out procedure. Our method consists of two stages. In the first stage, a global DNN is trained using data from all subjects except one subject that is excluded for testing. In the second stage, the global model is fine-tuned to each subject whose data are used in the training. Combining the responses of trained DNNs with different weights for each test subject, rather than an equal weight, provide better performance as brain signals may differ significantly between individuals. To this end, weights of DNNs are learnt with SAMME algorithm with using data belonging to the test subject. Our method significantly outperforms canonical correlation analysis (CCA) and filter bank canonical correlation analysis (FBCCA) methods.Conference Object Eaft: Evolutionary Algorithms for Gcc Flag Tuning(IEEE, 2022) Tagtekin, Burak; Çakar, TunaDue to limited resources, some methods come to the fore in finding and applying the factors that affect the working time of the code. The most common one is choosing the correct GCC flags using heuristic algorithms. For the codes compiled with GCC, the selection of optimization flags directly affects the speed of the processing, however, choosing the right one among hundreds of markers during this process is a resource consuming problem. This article explains how to solve the GCC flag optimization problem with EAFT. Rather than other autotuner tools such as Opentuner, EAFT is an optimized tool for GCC marker selection. Search infrastructure has been developed with particle swarm optimization and genetic algorithm with diffent submodels rather than using only Genetic Algorithm like FOGA. © 2022 IEEE.Conference Object Citation - Scopus: 1Enhancing Quality Control in Plastic Injection Production: Deep Learning-Based Detection and Classification of Defects(IEEE, 2023) Mutlu, İsmail; Çakar, Tuna; Aslan, Yeşim; Yıldız, Ahmet; Sayar, Alperen; Şimsek, Kamil; Tunalı, Mustafa MertThis study investigates the applicability of diverse deep learning techniques in detecting and classifying defects within plastic injection manufacturing processes. This challenging task is an indispensable aspect of text understanding and has important applications in various language processing systems such as question answering and machine translation. Although a significant amount of studies is devoted to coreference resolution, the research on Turkish is scarce and mostly limited to pronoun resolution. To our best knowledge, this article presents the first neural Turkish coreference resolution study where two learning-based models are explored. Both models follow the mention-ranking approach while forming clusters of mentions. The first model uses a set of hand-crafted features whereas the second coreference model relies on embeddings learned from large-scale pre-trained language models for capturing similarities between a mention and its candidate antecedents. Several language models trained specifically for Turkish are used to obtain mention representations and their effectiveness is compared in conducted experiments using automatic metrics. We argue that the results of this study shed light on the possible contributions of neural architectures to Turkish coreference resolution.Article What Is Neuroentrepreneurship? the Theoretical Framework, Critical Evaluation, and Research Program(2021) Çakar,Tuna; Girişken, ArzuAs interest in entrepreneurship research to identify the possible economic development opportunities that entrepreneurs can provide, entrepreneurship research's objective tools are reaching their limits. Researchers in entrepreneurship are striving to discover new techniques and methodologies to answer questions about what makes a person an entrepreneur and perhaps identify and encourage an entrepreneur in the next step. Although a great deal of research has been done to answer these questions scientifically, traditional techniques have failed to produce the desired answers. For this reason, researchers working in the entrepreneurship field have recently been increasingly interested in applying neuroscience methods, especially after the proliferation of research fields such as neuroeconomics, neuromarketing, and neuropolitics. Although the population of neuroentrepreneurship research is gradually increasing, we cannot say that the field has been studied theoretically enough yet. In this article, a theoretical definition of neuroentrepreneurship is made, and a scientific framework is tried to be gained on the way to future research.
