Master Thesis Paths From Anxious Attachment To Cyber Dating Violence Perpetration in Emerging Adults: a Test of a Multiple Parallel Meditation Model(MEF Üniversitesi, 2024) Yıldırım, Buse; Demirtaş, Ezgi TopluThe purpose of this study is to examine the mediating roles of self-perception, emotion regulation, and jealousy in the relationship between anxious attachment and cyber dating violence perpetration in emerging adults. In this context, cyber dating violence perpetration was considered as the dependent variable and anxious attachment as the independent variable. Self-perception, emotion regulation and jealousy were mediator variables. This research was conducted with 300 participants in the emerging adulthood (ages between 18 and 30) who were or are currently in a romantic relationship. While obtaining the research data, the Experiences in Close Relationships Scale Short Form, Emotion Regulation Difficulty Scale Short Form, Social Comparison Scale, Multidimensional Jealousy Scale, and Cyber Dating Abuse Scale were used. According to the results obtained from the research data, correlation analysis and 'Parallel Multi-Mediating Variable Analysis were performed to examine the relationship between the variables. According to the findings, parallel multiple mediation analysis of emotion regulation and jealousy in the relationship between anxious attachment and cyber dating violence was confirmed. The research findings were discussed within the scope of the literature and suggestions for research and practice were presented.Master Thesis Legal Liability of the Physician in the Context of Plastic Surgery in the Light of Supreme Court Decisions(MEF Üniversitesi, 2024) Uzunoğulları, Alin Doğa; Kapancı, Kadir BerkThe topic of this thesis called ' Legal Liability Of The Physician In The Context Of Plastic Surgery Under Turkish Law ' basically aims to characterize the qualification of the plastic surgery under Turkish law and the legal responsibilities of the physician (plastic surgeon) that may arise in this context. First of all, the concepts related to plastic surgery will be explained by giving definitions of physician and patient. Afterwards, it will be explained in which cases the plastic surgery is considered legal in the doctrine. After the discussion of the legality of plastic surgery; the legal nature of the contract established between the physician and the patient for the purpose of plastic surgery, which has been the subject of different opinions in the doctrine, will tried to be revealed. After focusing on the discussions in the context of the contract of mandate, service contract, sui generis contract and contract of work in the doctrine, the evaluation of the legal relationship between the physician working in the private hospital and the patient will be made. In addition, the contractual responsibility of the physician in the context of plastic surgery will be examined. Under the topic of 'contractual responsibility of the physician', the obligation of examining the patient and asking questions about the diagnosis of the disease (anamnesis-medical history talking), the obligation of diagnosing the disease and choosing the most appropriate treatment, the obligation to start and execute the work on time, the obligation to inform, the duty of care, the obligation of loyalty and confidentiality, the obligation of personal performance will be discussed along with the obligation to provide tools, equipment and materials, obligation arising from defeat and the debt of recording the document. After explaining the contractual responsibility of the physician, the situations that occur in case of violation of the contractual responsibility will be revealed. Afterwards, the cases where the contract is terminated and the cases where the responsibility of the physician is limited in the contracts dealing with the plastic surgeries will be examined. After these explanations, the concepts of acting without authority and tort, which are the non-contractual liability cases of the physician, will be evaluated. Finally, explanations regarding non-pecuniary damages will be examined in our study.Master Thesis Children's Concept of Rules and Their Judgments on Crime and Punishment(MEF Üniversitesi, 2024) Tangu, Sevilay; Acar, MelikeTuriel (1983) has documented in his studies that children judge rules differently based on different social domains. The aim of this research is to investigate how children evaluate rule violations and domain undifferentiated punishments encountered in schools and how they judge the punishments given by teachers for these situations. Additionally, students are asked to provide alternative ways for the behaviors mentioned in the stories, offering suggestions to teachers. As data collection tools, participants were initially asked four questions about their perceptions of class rules, and they were required to justify their answers. Subsequently, participants were engaged in semi-structured clinical interviews by reading six different hypothetical stories created from three social domains. The participant group of the research consists of 60 primary school students aged 6-9. The findings of the study indicate that young children (6-7 years old) perceive rules as more unchangeable compared to older children (8-9 years old). Consistent with previous studies, moral transgressions were found to be less acceptable compared to social-conventional and prudential domains.Master Thesis The Mediating Role of Psychological Resilience and Self-Compassion in the Relationship Between Perceived Parental Support and Social Media Addiction(MEF Üniversitesi, 2024) İşleyici, Burak; Acar, MelikeThe internet, which has entered our lives as a communication tool, has become an indispensable part of life and continues to exist in various realms through its evolving nature. One such domain is social media, which offers individuals the opportunity to present themselves in diverse ways and to foster more positive mental states. The desire to sustain this positive mental state can lead to social media addiction. Consequently, individuals may face serious problems significantly impacting their lives. Therefore, it is crucial to investigate factors potentially associated with social media addiction and to provide corresponding prevention and intervention services. Psychological resilience and self-compassion are considered significant factors for individuals with internet addiction as they are believed to enhance emotion regulation and impact addiction. The objective of this study is to examine the mediating role of self-compassion and psychological resilience in the relationship between perceived parental attention and social media addiction. The study's sample consists of 302 participants, and a correlational research model has been employed due to the examination of relationships between variables, along with descriptive statistics for these variables. A two-mediator model (Model 6) was utilized, leveraging the Hayes PROCESS analytical tool. The 'Demographic Information Form', 'Resilience Scale', 'Parental Attitudes Scale I-II', 'Social Media Addiction Scale', and 'Self-Compassion Scale' were used. The findings of the research reveal a relationship between the perceived parental attention of individuals and their social media addiction, with self-compassion playing a substantial mediating role in this relationship.Master Thesis Evaluations of Children and Parents on Parental Lies(MEF Üniversitesi, 2023) Çevik, Işılay; Acar, MelikePiaget (2015) stated that the evaluation and justification of children's lying behavior in moral terms change according to cognitive developmental stages. Studies conducted on the paradigm of disappointing gift, a white lie area, have observed that it is found more acceptable compared to other areas of lies (Aydın, 2021; Warneken & Orlins, 2015; Gingo, Roded, & Turiel, 2019). The aim of this research is to investigate how children and parents evaluate and justify the lies told by parents. Participants were presented with seven different stories as data collection tools, and they were asked to assess and justify these stories. The participants in the first study were 35 children in the 5-6 age group and 35 children in the 10-11 age group. The participants in the second study were 68 parents with children aged 5-12. In this context, Türkiye's membership process of EU has been interpreted, reason of the insolubility has been explained. In the study initially defined the identities of both parties, and then examined the transformations of the identities as 20-year periods from 1960 to the present. Then, the status of negotiations and relations among the parties has been compared in according to these identity transformations. In this way, the study seeks to determine whether is there a linear relationship between the structure of identities and the course of negotiations. To achieve this, methods such as literature review and case analysis has been used. In the process of accumulating and redistributing this surplus value, the role of law is undeniable. Particularly in ensuring the continuity of the system established for the accumulation and distribution of surplus value beyond physical force, criminal law takes on a pivotal role. Since the age of enlightenment, criminal law has predominantly fulfilled this role through imprisonment. Conditional release has emerged as a response to the drawbacks of imprisonment. Conditional release became part of the Turkish legal system with the establishment of the Republic. This study will examine the stages through which conditional release has evolved and the forms it has taken since its inception in Turkish law to fulfill its role. Furthermore, in the Information Age that heralds the new millennium, the potential impacts of technological advancement, which is advancing in tandem with philosophical discourse, on conditional release as a ustadan and balancer, will be discussed.Master Thesis The Relationships Between Mother-Child Attachment and Emotional Availability: a Dyadic Analysis(MEF Üniversitesi, 2024) Bahçeli, Sinem Makbule Yıldızeli; Demirtaş, Ezgi TopluThe aim of this research is to explore the relationship between mothers' own attachment styles and their children's attachment styles, mothers' emotional availability and their children's emotional availability, mother attachment and mother emotional availability and child emotional availability, child attachment and mother emotional availability and child emotional availability with a dyadic approach. Therefore, a dyadic analysis has been conducted with volunteers consisting of both mothers and their male/female children who were above age 18. Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment – Turkish version (IPPA-T) and Lum Emotional Availability of Parents (LEAP) were utilized to collect data. In order to test the main hypotheses of the research Path Analysis Structural Equation Model was conducted. The findings confirmed the hypotheses by revealing that there are positive relationships between mothers' attachment styles and children's attachment styles, mother's emotional availability and children's emotional availability, and mother-child attachment style with emotional availability. The results were discussed in terms of the scope of the literature and suggestions for research and practice were presented for researchers and mental health practitioners in the field.Master Thesis Suriye İç Savaşının Dinamikleri ve Koruma Sorumluluğu Doktrini Çerçevesinde Avrupa Birliği'nin Suriye İç Savaşına Yaklaşımı(MEF Üniversitesi, 2023) Yurdakul, Faruk; Yalova, YükselBu tez, Suriye İç Savaşı'nın dinamiklerini ve Avrupa Birliği'nin (AB) müdahalesini Koruma Sorumluluğu (R2P) ilkesi perspektifinden incelemektedir. Çalışmada, iç savaşa giden süreçte Arap Baharı' nın ortaya çıkışı ve bölge üzerindeki etkisi, özellikle Arap kültürü ve ayaklanmaları körükleyen faktörler incelenmektedir. Araştırma, Esad rejimi, IŞİD gibi aşırılık yanlısı grupların ortaya çıkışı ve PKK/SDG/YPG gibi Kürt grupların katılımı gibi kilit dönemleri vurgulayarak, Suriye İç Savaşı'nın barışçıl protestolardan bugünkü durumuna evriminin izini sürmektedir. Tez aynı zamanda hem Türk hukukunda hem de uluslararası hukuk ve AB'ye göre terörizmin tanımlarını ve özelliklerini incelemektedir. Savaşın sonuçları ve mevcut durum değerlendirilmektedir. Çalışma ayrıca Koruma Sorumluluğu kavramını ve bu kavramın büyük ölçekli insan hakları ihlallerinin önlenmesindeki uygulamalarını incelemektedir. AB'nin yapısı, temel değerleri ve uluslararası sistemdeki rolü hakkında genel bir bakış sunmaktadır. Bu tez, AB'nin Suriye İç Savaşı'na müdahil olma sürecini, savaşın sonuçlarının AB üzerindeki etkisini de dikkate alarak analiz etmektedir. AB'nin çatışmaya nasıl taraf olduğunu incelemekte, müdahil olmasının sonuçlarını değerlendirmekte ve AB'nin Suriye'deki dış politika hedeflerine ulaşması için öneriler sunmaktadır. Sonuç olarak, AB'nin Suriye İç Savaşı'nda Koruma Sorumluluğu'nu uygulamasının önemli zorluklar ve kısıtlamalarla karşı karşıya olduğu açıktır. Farklı ulusal çıkarlar, karmaşık karar alma mekanizmaları, değişen demografik yapı, yükselen muhafazakâr ve faşist duygular ve Türkiye ile iş birliğindeki zorluklar başlıca engeller arasındadır. Bu tezde, Koruma Sorumluluğu Doktrini' nin AB içindeki etkinliğini artırmak için müdahale kabiliyetlerinin geliştirilmesi, söylem ve eylem arasındaki uçurumun kapatılması, üye devletler arasında birliğin teşvik edilmesi ve çatışmaların temel nedenlerinin ele alınması gibi adımlar önerilmektedir. Genel olarak bu araştırma, Suriye İç Savaşı'nın ve AB'nin Koruma Sorumluluğu ilkesi çerçevesindeki müdahalesinin anlaşılmasına katkıda bulunmaktadır. AB'nin karşılaştığı karmaşıklıkları ve kısıtlamaları vurgulamakta ve AB'nin Suriye'de insan haklarını koruma ve dış politika hedeflerini ilerletme konusunda daha etkili bir aktör olması için tavsiyeler sunmaktadır.Master Thesis Basın Demeçleri Bağlamında Türk ve Amerikan İlişkilerinin Terörle Mücadele Boyutu(MEF Üniversitesi, 2023) Vardar, Eli̇f; Çağlar, BarışBu tez çalışmasında Suriye'ye sıçrayan Arap baharının oluşturmuş olduğu kaotik ortamda kendine yer edinen PKK/PYD ve İŞİD terör örgütlerine karşı müttefik olan Türkiye ve Amerika'nın terörle mücadelede ne denli işbirliği yapabildiği araştırma sorusundan yola çıkılarak, devletlerin terörizme karşı işbirliği zorlukları irdelenmiştir. İzlenilen metot söylem analizi ve süreç analizi birlikteliğidir. 2011-2018 yılları arasında devlet başkanlarından savunma bakanlığına, dışişleri bakanlarından hükümet sözcülerine kadar farklı kurumların yönetimlerinde bulunan kişilerin söylemleri analiz edilerek ve sahadaki eylemleriyle karşılaştırılarak süreç analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırma sırasında yıllara göre çeşitli haber kaynakları taranmış ve sahada terör örgütlerine karşı gerçekleştirilen operasyonlar literatür taraması ile detaylı olarak incelenmiştir. Devlet kurumlarında bulunan kişilerin söylemleri kamuoyuna açık kaynaklardan elde edilmiş ve çeşitli kaynaklardan araştırılıp teyit edilerek sunulmuştur. Tez içerisinde bulunan görüş ve önerilerin tamamı, yaptığım araştırmalar sonucu şekillendirdiğim kişisel fikirlerimdir ve herhangi bir kişi veya kurumun görüşünü yansıtmamaktadır.
