However, green innovations can be costly and difficult for organisations to implement in the short term. This study explores the concept of green organisational ambidexterity, defined as the simultaneous pursuit of exploration and exploitation strategies in green innovation activities. Organisations can create novel and innovative green products and processes as well as improve existing green products and processes by combining exploration and exploitation strategies. This situation provides organisations to compete more strategically in the long and short term while also being more environmentally friendly. The purpose of this study is to reveal the theoretical and conceptual framework of the concept of green organisational ambidexterity by reviewing the research conducted within the scope of the literature review and addressing its effects on organisations and sectors. In this regard, proposals are made to advance the body of literature addressing the concepts of green psychological capital, digital-technology adaptation, green strategic leadership and green strategic tension. The findings are intended to serve as a guideline for future research.Conference Object Analysis of the Roles of the Irrigation Associations and Public-Private Model in Irrigation Development and Management in Turkey(2019) Kibaroğlu, AyşegülThe latest national development plan in Turkey emphasizes that priority is given to water, food and nutrition security in a competitive environment, hence, infrastructure investments in sectors like irrigation will continue with an intention to supporteconomic productivity in the medium and long term. New technologies and the rapid diffusion of the internet are introducing new business models in the banking industry, by providing many alternatives for reaching and interacting with customers. One of the new banking business models is digital-only banking. Digital-only bank brands are servicing in digital platforms without providing any traditional branch services. However, in many countries, banks are still operating within conventional service models, so some changes in laws and regulations may be required to provide digital-only banking services. Besides such structural and institutional requirements, positive consumer attitudes toward working with digital-only brands are prerequisites for any brand to be successful in the highly competitive financial services market. Positive consumer attitudes are especially important in the digital- only banking context since preferring a bank brand with a large network of established branches is still essential for building brand trust for many customers. Therefore, financial services institutions need to have a deep understanding of consumer perceptions and the antecedents of brand trust regarding digital-only banking. This study aims to explore consumer motives and elements of building customer trust for a digital-only banking brand in an emerging market context. Consumer insights were obtained as a result of a pilot study, which included preliminary interviews with retail banking customers. The interviews have shown that trust is the core factor for bank preference. Digital-only brands have the risk of being perceived as untrustworthy. Positive word-of-mouth, clear procedures, reliable terms and conditions, having responsive and effective customer services teams, and solving customer complaints fast are stated as important points to build brand trust for digital-only brands. This exploratory study may provide a basis for future empirical studies. The findings will be beneficial for the policy- makers, marketing managers of financial services institutions, and researchers who want to understand customer expectations.Article Building The Capabilities For Managing Uncertainty In Entrepreneurial Contexts: A Sensemaking Approach(Eurasian Journal of Researches in Social and Economics (EJRSE), 2019) Karadağ, HandeHow entrepreneurs act upon the uncertainties from the initiation to the finalization of the entrepreneurial venture creation process is an area where the amount of conceptual and empirical research studies is significantly limited. In this study, a novel approach to entrepreneurial cognition is introduced for filling this gap in the literature, by employing the elements of sensemaking theory to entrepreneurial cognition, proposing that entrepreneurs engage in a purposed sensemaking process during their entrepreneurial experience. As individual entrepreneurs develop certain skills and capabilities for succeeding in their entrepreneurial acts, the study further argues that entrepreneurial sensemaking can be regarded as an important capability which can be improved to carry the individual entrepreneur from chaos towards a more organized condition. With its unique approach to how high levels of uncertainty are perceived and acted upon by the entrepreneurs, the study is expected to make a significant contribution to both sensemaking and entrepreneurship literature.Conference Object Corporate Social Responsibility Communication of Banks in the First Days of the Covid-19 Pandemic in Turkey(2021) Tosun, PetekThe purpose of this study is to examine corporate social responsibility (CSR) communication and the waysthe pandemic changed CSR communication of banks on social media at the beginning of the COVID-19pandemic in Turkey. Almost all schools worldwide had to stop face-to-face education and approximately 2 billions students were forced to get their education online. This pandemic demonstrated that the Turkish higher education system was not well-prepared for a crisis of this proportion, nor was it ready for effective online teaching. High-quality online education is a fact of life now, and administrators, as well as faculty members have an important task on hand. In this opinion piece, 1 offered some ideas about improving the quality of online education, and discussed other impacts of this pandemic on higher education, along with some warnings. I believe this pandemic offers an opportunity for the outdated higher education system worldwide and the universities (and countries) that adopt quickly will be the winners.Book Part Crm in Retail Banking From Salespeople’s Perspective in the Covid-19 Outbreak(İKSAD, 2020) Tosun, PetekThe new coronavirus disease (COVID-19), which has stemmed in December 2019, has been declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization in March 2020 and turned into a global health crisis (Liu et al., 2020). Besides wars, pandemics have been the most dangerous and fearful threats to human life throughout history. As of August 2020, the pandemic has cost more than 777,000 lives worldwide with approximately 22 million cases and it was still ongoing. Besides its devastating impact on the health systems, the pandemic has led to an unpredictable change in the economic and social environment and the business and social life.Conference Object Customer Relationship Management in the Covid-19 Outbreak From a Salesperson Perspective(2020) Tosun, PetekThe new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) has led to an unpredictable change in business and social life. Many institutions shifted to remote working to reduce the possibility of contagion in the workplace. Banks, which are among the major institutions in business life, have adopted remote working and social distancing rules in their branches and other workspaces. This change has inevitably influenced salespeople’s relationships with their customers since the ways of interacting and communicating have changed dramatically. The purpose of this study is to explore the impact of flexible and remote working during the Covid-19 pandemic on customer relationship management (CRM) in retail banking. A survey was conducted on customer relationship managers, branch managers, and other sales personnel regarding their self-assessment of CRM and sales performance during the remote working conditions in the Covid-19 outbreak. The findings have shown that the outbreak period has improved salespeople’s relationships with their customers. Besides, sales performance was positively influenced by CRM. CRM and sales performance did not change significantly depending on the size of the bank’s branch network or the salesperson’s total work experience. 18% and 16% of the salespeople found themselves important and safe, as employees of banks during the outbreak, respectively. However, 51% of the participants stated that working in the banking sector in the outbreak period was hard and anxious. While 16% of the participants thought that it is possible to work from home, only 4% stated that face-to-face communication is required. This study is timely research that has focused on the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak on CRM in banking and may constitute a proper base for future studies that will examine the impact of the pandemic deeper.Article Destination Personalities of Alacati and Ayvalik in Turkey: Consumer Perceptions of a Summer Holiday(2019) Tosun, Petek; Merve AkarIn 2018 summer, Alaçatı and Ayvalık have been listed among the top cities that are preferred as tourism destinations for local tourists. These destinations have been popular for tourists in the last decade and Turkish tourists increasingly prefer local destinations for their summer holidays because of the devalued Turkish lira. Attracting tourists is among the primary goals for tourism marketers, and consequently understanding customer perceptions regarding destinations is one of the key factors to achieve this goal. In this context, the purpose of this study is to examine the destination personalities of Ayvalık and Alaçatı and compare them in terms of destination personality dimensions. In a quantitative research design, respondents (n=191) have been asked about their perceptions about the destination personalities of Alaçatı and Ayvalık, in which they compare the two destinations on a 5 Point-Likert scale. Destination personalities have been examined within the conceptual framework of destination personality dimensions, which are, sincerity, excitement, and conviviality. In addition, respondents have answered a question by writing their opinions about “a great summer vacation” with a few words, which have been analyzed by content and cluster analyses, aiming to have a deeper understanding about the consumer perceptions about their summer vacations. Significant differences have been found between the destination personality dimensions of Ayvalık and Alaçatı. Ayvalık is perceived as sincerer and more convivial than Alaçatı, whereas Alaçatı is perceived as more exciting than Ayvalık. Regarding their expectations from their summer holiday, consumers have been grouped into 4 clusters such as; (1) fun, excitement, and activity oriented, (2) travelling and exploring oriented, (3) family and friends oriented, (4) relaxation, comfort, and silence-oriented consumers. There is not a significant difference among clusters regarding the perceived destination personalities of Ayvalık and Alaçatı. This study aims to contribute to researchers not only by implementing destination personality research in the Turkish context, but also by extending the existing knowledge by assessing destination personality concept together with the consumers’ descriptions of an idealized summer vacation. Moreover, findings of the study will be beneficial for marketing activities of tourism agencies, hospitality industry, and local governments.Article Citation - WoS: 4Citation - Scopus: 3Developmental Health Services Leadership: Integrating Hierarchical and Shared Leadership for Health Services Organizational Learning(2015) Pearce, Craig L.The purpose of this article is to articulate a model of, as well as a call to action for, health services leadership, with a particular emphasis on the role of health services leadership in organizational learning. More specifically, I articulate a model that poses two antecedents of health services hierarchical leadership-leader responsibility disposition and environmental cues-as important predictors of empowering leadership. In turn, I assert that empowering leadership from above will engender an inclination toward shared leadership among followers. Subsequently, I venture that both empowering hierarchical leadership and shared leadership are precursors of health services organizational learning. I specify several research directions for future scholarship. More importantly, I identify multiple measures that policy makers and practitioners can take to enhance health services leadership and organizational learning.
