Conference Object A Historical Perspective To Fabrication in Architecture for Preserving Heritage(Education and research in Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe, 2019) Özgan, Sibel Yasemin; Özkar, Mine; Hamzaoğlu, BegümDigital technologies have recently been at the forefront of the causal link between making and design. A growing number of architecture programs of universities incorporates fabrication to the educational environment, and even to the curriculum. Fabrication technology is now considered among the set of tools students are expected to acquire a basic knowledge of and skills in. Nevertheless, the pedagogical potential of fabrication in communicating traditions of making is underused in an oversight of the continuity of the relevant know-how. Our position is that traditions of making can be the subject matter of fabrication with the objective to remedy the role of fabrication tools in architectural history, sustainable architectural production, and in the field of digital heritage. In this paper, we report on two comparative studies that illustrate how the instrumental factors of two historical crafts can be articulated using fabrication. © 2019, Education and research in Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe. He was in a unique position as both member of pioneering civil organizations (Istanbul Muhibleri Cemiyeti) and the official associations for conservation (Muhafaza-ı Asar-ı Atika Cemiyeti). In the latter, he was one of the key people for recording and archiving the ancient monuments of Istanbul. This paper aims at analyzing his role in the history of preservation of heritage in Turkey through his writings, conferences and organization of commemorations. The focus will be particularly on his contribution to the popularization of the concept of the ancient monument (Âsâr-ı Atîka) and its promotion by commemorating the creators of the monuments. Drawing on his conferences and publications, I will present that Ziya’s selection of ancient monuments were towards a self-defining identity of the city and its architectural heritage. In it, how he reconciled the pre-Ottoman heritage of the city with Turkish patriotism and pride of citizenry will be one of the main discussion points. The paper will further discuss Ziya’s prominent role in commemoration of poets (Sheikh Galip – d.1799) and architects (Sinan- d.1588) as Ottoman heroes and linking them to the architectural heritage in contemporary Istanbul. Focusing on the commemorations of anniversaries of Sinan’s demise, I will reveal how his personal passion in ancient monuments of Istanbul coalesced with the patriotism of the First world War years as well as with the pride in citizenry. Beginning in 1921, these commemorations took place in front of Sinan’s tomb and covered speeches about and visits to his monuments. In their heydays in 1920s and 1930s, they promoted Istanbul as a composition of ancient monuments within the officially sanctioned rhetoric over the Turkish national genius in architecture. I will look at how Ziya positioned himself in the burgeoning division over the definition of the architectural heritage of the nation. Drawing on the analysis of these primary sources, the paper conclude with recognizing the role of individual voices in the formation of idea of architectural heritage of the nation.Book Part Conference Object Research Project Shift(2018) Karababa, Avşar; Sarısakal, BerilShift, MEF Üniversitesi öğrencileri, öğretim elemanları ve çalışanlarının kullanımına yönelik tasarlanan bir açık hava sosyalleşme alanıdır. MEF Üniversitesi Sanat, Tasarım ve Mimarlık Fakültesi’nden 13 öğrencinin 2 yürütücü eşliğinde tasarlayıp inşa ettiği Shift, kısıtlı bir alan içinde yüzen bir yapay topografya aracılığıyla mekanın kullanım sınırlarını yeniden üretir. Kütlenin girintili-çıkıntılı konturu, yatayda farklı kalabalıklara eş zamanlı hizmet eder, düşeyde oturma/yaslanma/yatma/toplanma/tırmanma durumları üzerinden mekanın kullanım olanaklarını artırır ve kullanıcıların mekanı farklı noktalardan deneyimlemesini olası kılar.Conference Object Conference Object Conference Object Research Project Tasarla Yap Stüdyosu 2017, Dalga Projesi(Arkitera Mimarlık Merkezi Yayını [MEF Üniversitesi Sanat Tasarım ve Mimarlık Fakültesi], 2017) Sezgin, Ahmet; Eren, BaşakProje MEF Üniversitesi Sanat, Tasarım ve Mimarlık Fakültesi 1. sınıf öğrencileri tarafından 3-21 Temmuz tarihlerinde İstanbul Sarıyer Rumelihisarı mahallesinde yer alan Türkan Şoray İlkokulu’nda gerçekleştirildi. Okulun arka bahçesinde konumlanan proje için, çocukların farklı imkanlarda kullanabileceği esnek bir oyun alanı tasarlama fikriyle yola çıkıldı. Dalga; farklı yükselti ve eğimlerde yüzeyler kullanılarak tanımlı olmayan, yaratıcı ve farklı karakterdeki oyunlara ev sahipliği yapabilecek bir oyun alanını hayata geçirmek amacıyla tasarlandı. 2 hafta boyunca MEF Üniversitesi’nde yürütücüler eşliğinde öğrenciler tarafından yoğun bir tasarım sürecinde tasarlanan proje, bu süre sonunda uygulamaya geçilerek gerçekleştirildi. Proje farklı ivmelerle yükselen zeminde koşmak, kaymak, tırmanmak; geniş ve değişen eğimli alanda hareket etmek, grupça oynamak; bu alanlardan daha izole ve az eğimli alanda oturmak, sohbet etmek gibi daha sakin eylemlerle alanı zenginleştirmek gibi akla ilk gelen eylemlerin yanı sıra farklı kotlarda bulunarak farklı ilişkiler kuran bu 3 alanın çocukların yaratıcılığı ile tahmin edilmesi mümkün olmayan daha birçok eyleme ev sahipliği yapması hayal edilerek inşa edilmiştir.Research Project Tasarla Yap Stüdyosu 2018, Kayıkhane Projesi(2018) Sezgin, Ahmet; İnceoğlu, Arda; Aydemir, Ayşe ZeynepBoğaziçi Üniversitesi Denizcilik ve Yelken Kulübü Kayıkhane Projesi, 2018 Tasarla ve Yap! Programı kapsamında 18 Haziran – 21 Temmuz 2018 tarihleri arasında gerçekleşti. Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Kilyos Sarıtepe Kampüsü kumsalında, Hobie cat, rüzgar sörfü, sörf tahtası gibi kulüp ekipmanlarının depolanması ve kulüp üyelerinin bir araya gelmesi için tasarlanan yapı, kumsalın doğal topoğrafyasıyla uyumlu iki kütleden oluşmaktadır.Conference Object Conference Object
