Although there are many variants of these problems, there exist two common features: finding the best locations for one or more facilities and allocating demand points to these facilities. A considerable number of studies assume a monopolistic viewpoint and formulate a mathematical model to optimize an objective function of a single decision maker. In contrast, competitive facility location (CFL) problem is based on the premise that there exist competition in the market among different firms. When one of the competing firms acts as the leader and the other firm, called the follower, reacts to the decision of the leader, a sequential-entry CFL problem is obtained, which gives rise to a Stackelberg type of game between two players. A successful and widely applied framework to formulate this type of CFL problems is bilevel programming (BP). Learning beyond the classrooms has emerged as a highlighted concern as well as the children's interaction with each other and their environment. Articulation of the changing pedagogical approaches and visions of the innovative, student-centered ideas of the twenty-first century through the physical characters of learning spaces has become a significant issue for research regarding the design of contemporary schools. The evolution of the formation of boundaries, borders, and thresholds defining the distinctions and establishing the relationships and hierarchies between the learning spaces at school settings constitutes a critical part of this process, which deserves attention. This chapter aims to search for boundary-related design suggestions for primary schools in Turkey, based on the data obtained through a field study conducted in Istanbul, which aimed to derive the current issues regarding the spatial use patterns in prototype-based, conventionally designed schools. Since 19th century, design studios have been at the core of very different models of architectural education. Design studios have always been always active learning environments where students learn by doing. Typically, students are presented with design problems to which they need to develop personal solutions. Thus, from the very beginning of their studies, students simulate how an actual architect would approach design problems. With each new design studio, they develop new skills or hone the ones they have already acquired. Such an approach immediately creates a learning culture which is based on active learning where students are challenged to take responsibility, to solve complex problems and develop their individual character as designers while being able to work in group environments. A design studio is not a course where information is given an it is expected the students learn and use that information. It is a collaborative learning environment. Thus, following the lead of design studios, flipping theoretical courses within the architectural curriculum and making them active learning environments should be almost natural. However, this is not necessarily the case. There is a wide gap in pedagogical approaches used between design studios and theory courses within architectural education (Allen, 1997; Chiuini, 2006; Smith, 2004; Oakley, B, Felder, R M, Brent, R; Elhajj, I, 2004). Courses on architectural technology (structures, construction methods, detailing) and to a lesser extent courses on history and theory of architecture are taught in more conventional ways with little emphasis on the application of the information discussed (Vassigh, 2005, 2009). It analyzes the expansion of irrigation investment as well as institutional and technological changes in irrigation policy and development in parallel with policies of liberalization and decentralization in the late 1980s. The chapter also discusses institutional changes in the management of the irrigation systems as a result of (partial) transfer of management of large-scale irrigation systems to a variety of water user organizations. Finally, it describes current technological and institutional problems and the further challenges to the irrigation sector, such as infrastructure deterioration, risks of drought, environmental and ecological system degradation, and insufficient investment. This manuscript provides examples of how mathematics teacher educators can promote prospective teachers’ active learning and professional growth by bringing together the Flipped Classroom method with video content on teaching and learning as well as workplace learning opportunities in a pedagogy course. The professional learning of prospective teachers is framed accord- ing to the components of the Pedagogical Content Knowledge (Park & Olive, 2008; Shulman, 1986). A growing number of studies are examining the composites of biodegradable fibers such as flax, hemp, kenaf and luffa due to the adverse effects of chemical materials on nature. The low cost and superior acoustic and acceptable mechanical properties of biocomposites make them very attractive for practical applications such as sound and vibration isolation. However, the acoustic and mechanical characteristics of biocomposites and their dynamic behaviors should be fully determined before considering them for practical applications. In this chapter, acoustic properties, such as sound absorption and transmission loss, and mechanical properties, such as damping and elasticity of luffa fiber reinforced composites, are presented. Whereas the two-dimensional graphic designs employ certain geometric relations and rules, theirmaking, in three-dimensional space, relies on the spatial material qualities and the overall architectural form more than just visual transformations. For understanding how their architectonic harmony was implemented, it is crucial to consider not onlythe geometric design but also other parameters such as the surface geometry, the physical properties of the material, and the crafting technique. Under the patronage of Seljuks in Anatolia, the rigorous application of the decoration program on historicalbuildings manifests a collaboration coordinated by a master builder between mathematicians, designers, and craftsmen. Geometric patterns were applied to all kinds of building surfaces. Dome decorations particularly addressed challenges ofbuilding with spherical geometry.
